Your session

HOW DOES IT WORK?

You are curious about a portrait session and would like to find out more ?
Let´s start with a chat on the phone to find out what you need and what you want! Don´t worry. I know how to ask the questions to figure that out. Wherever we meet for our session, I want your shoot to feel effortless – like an afternoon spent in good company, in a space where you feel comfortable and confident. That’s why I try to get to know as much as possible about you and your needs, to find out how to create the best possible result for you.
It´s important to me to capture images that work for you, as well as being beautiful, stand out portraits. So, there are no formulaic setups here. I tailor every shoot to you – your wishes, your ambitions, your individuality. I know that being in front of a camera – and trusting that the photographer really sees you, can feel vulnerable and apprehensive. So, I want your portrait session to be the absolute opposite of that – relaxed, fun, and in a space where you can just be yourself.

WHERE DO YOU SHOOT?
In London I work from a lovely studio in Hackney; Soif Studios, and in Oslo, from Studio Metro at Grunerløkka. Or, we may find another suitable location indoors or outdoors. I use both daylight and strobes, whichever the set up and intention for the portrait requires. Rest assured my goal is to always use lighting that flatters and keep your shots looking natural, honest and beautiful.

HOW LONG IS THE SESSION?
Depending on your choice of session (mini session/ headshot only – to full creative portrait experience) it takes from one hour for a mini session up to 5 hours for the full experience that includes hair and makeup, multiple set ups and backdrops. Both gives us plenty of time for a relaxed and unpressurised shoot.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Bring clothes that make you feel good, that people compliment you in, your trusty, old favourites, that feel like you. Or, something brand new, fun and outrageous! Bring clothes that compliment your eye colour and skin tones. Think of necklines that flatter your body shape, that doesn´t ´strangle you´ or cut you off. You know what works for you, so that´s a great starting point.
Bring colour, bring plain! Personally, I love a monochrome look, when I get the chance to compliment the backdrop to your clothing. And as I focus most of all on you, your eyes, and our connection, I prefer not to have big bold patterns that detracts from that. Bring it all and we can rummage through together, making our selection based on what is going to work best for you and what gives us as much variation as possible.
And don’t forget your bottom half , even if it is predominantly a portrait session where your face is the focus, we also shoot some wider, editorial shots too.
Once you book your session, we dive more into wardrobe and styling. In fact, for the full portrait experience we will collaborate on a mood board with ideas and inspiration. After booking I send you through an information sheet that tells you more specifically all you need to know about your session, where to go and what to bring , but I am always available to talk things through on the phone beforehand if you need.

HOW MUCH RETOUCHING DO YOU DO?
In the world of ever developing AI, authenticity has never been more important. So I keep the retouching light touch but dynamic. Embrace the quirks, celebrate the differences, whilst looking like the very best version of you.
